Overview
Powerful, but still compact and portable, Magritek’s new generation of Kea NMR spectrometer, the Kea2, significantly improves performance and extends the frequency range of our signature NMR spectrometer line.
With a footprint of 36 cm x 23 cm (12″ x 8″) by only 15 cm (5″) high, the Kea2 conserves lab space. Weighing less than 5 kg (11 lbs), it is easily moved and operated in almost any environment.
Modular
The Kea2 spectrometer is modular to meet your requirements. Existing systems are easily integrated with Kea2’s optional internal RF amplifier, preamp and duplexer modules. Kea2’s imaging module provides control of up to 4 gradients.
Direct digital transmit and detect
Kea2 uses no intermediate mixing frequencies — meaning no quadrature issues. Kea2’s digital transmit circuit performs direct waveform synthesis. The receive module directly digitises the NMR signal at 100 MHz for a high quality, low noise NMR signal. This is the same technology used in most modern high field NMR spectrometers but is available with Kea for a fraction of the price.
Portable
The lightweight, low-footprint Kea2 spectrometer is convenient to use in almost any environment. Powered by two standard 12 V car batteries, the Kea2 can be operated far afield in any remote location.

- Single-sided NMR
Key features
The new Kea2 series NMR spectrometer is ideal for a broad range of NMR systems; from very low field permanent magnet systems to high frequency superconducting systems.
With a footprint of 36 cm x 23 cm (12″ x 8″) by only 15 cm (5″) high, the Kea2 conserves lab space. Weighing less than 5 kg (11 lbs), it is easily moved and operated in almost any environment.
Pulse Programming
Users can create their own pulse sequences with Prospa’s straightforward, Matlab-like language.
High Stability Oscillator (Optional)
The Kea2 has an optional oven-controlled oscillator to ensure a frequency stability of better than 1 ppb/ºC. This high stability is often needed for high frequency operation on superconducting magnets.
Four Channel Gradient Driver Module (Optional)
Together with the Kea2 and the standard Prospa software package, the gradient driver module makes for a complete and powerful MRI imaging system.
Second Transmit Channel (Optional)
An optional second transmit channel allows synchronized cross-polarization experiments and measurements. Note that there is only a single receive channel.
